Public Space

A figure-ground diagram illustrates the relationship between built and open space in precincts. Open spaces such as streets, parks, natural features and plazas are represented by white, while  black indicates buildings.

Nolli's map is utilized as a method to identify different types of public realm in students’ precincts.The map is then used to also analyze the degree of ‘public-ness’ basis access restrictions pertaining to gender, time, age and cost.

The city runs with various elements such as infrastructure, roads, housing, employment, etc. Ahmedabad is equipped with the better facilities with planned development, also safe for living compere to bigger cities in other states. The selected study 1km X 1km area is located in Western part Ahmedabad and the focus will be on the palette of planned facilities and habitability. Overall the study explains the strengths of planned development. The comparative analysis in some aspects will be the difference between core (study area) and peripheral area with the same characteristics. Some comparison have done for planned and unplanned scenario.
