Rajpur Sonarpur Municipality is one of the largest Municipality of West Bengal which is located in the southern fringes of Kolkata city and also this municipality is a major gateway of south 24 paragana district. It is the largest municipality under the jurisdiction of Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). Rajpur Sonarpur Municipality faces a sudden population growth during India Indo-Pak war 1971 because of huge number of migrants from East Pakistan and people from the surrounding rural areas of South 24 Parganas district choose their home in this municipality. The portfolio examines the major factors behind rapid growth and development of this city.
